Meetings are held on Mondays from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the St Mark Catholic Church Parish Hall during the school year.
Outings are held approximately once per month during a weekend as well as once per month during the summer months.
Scouts should always bring their handbook and a water bottle to every meeting and should wear their Class A uniform unless otherwise informed.
The annual Pinewood Derby is held in early spring each year (February or March depending on the council race date). Pack 215 will hold a build day and race day. Races are held by den. Den winners will then compete for pack winnings. Other awards are given out as well (e.g. best design, etc.)
The annual Pack calendar can be found on our website. You can view it on the Google calendar and/or download a pdf version from the Calendar page on the site. www.pack215stmark.com/calendar
Proper attire must be worn at all Pack functions: uniform shirt, neckerchief, and belt (Class A uniform). A Pack leader will inform parents if a Pack t-shirt or Cub Scout/Scouting America t-shirt will be allowed for a certain function or outing (Class B uniform).
Upon entrance of the church, meeting place, or trip location, every Scout and family member is expected to maintain a quiet and respectful attitude. This means use inside voices and no running or horseplay.
Parents are required to accompany their Scout into and out of the building before and after meetings. No outside drop-offs are permitted. This is to ensure that the leaders acknowledge the transfer from and to the parents.
Show up on time and be ready to start as soon as you enter the church or meeting place.
Each Den will require 2 parents to stay for each meeting IN ADDITION to the Den Leader and Assistant Den Leader. Lion and Tiger parents are required to accompany their Scouts at all times per Scouting America policy.
Scouts should not bring toys, electronics, or weapons to any meetings unless it is a Scout activity approved by the Den Leader and Cubmaster (no iPods, games, phones, BB Guns, swords, trading cards, etc.).
Parents are asked to refrain from using cell phones during meetings. If you must use your cell phone, please excuse yourself from the meeting and use it outside. DO NOT DO SO when we are in an activity or location where supervision is required of your Scout(s).
Bullying will not be tolerated in the Pack. Likewise, Scouts should respect the space of others and keeps hands to themselves at all times unless participating in an activity requiring close contact. All Scouts are expected to respect every Scout’s opinion. We will not display negative behaviors toward others.
Alcohol is not permitted at any time during any Scouting related meeting, activity, or outing.
Pack meetings begin with an opening flag ceremony. Each Den is to sit together with their Den Leaders and parents should be seated in the back or in the designated area. Upon call to order, please refrain from talking, unless called on to speak.
All Den and Pack meeting rules apply to Pack sponsored outings and camping trips.
All required forms and payments must be received by the stated deadline to participate in any outings and trips. If a Scout/family is registered for an event and they can no longer attend, there are no refunds given after any funds have been paid to Council/venue.
All parents going on the outing are REQUIRED to take the SAFE Guarding Youth Training (NO EXCEPTIONS).
In the event a parent cannot attend an outing, they can assign responsibility of their Scout to an approved parent/guardian. This assignment must be done on the proper Scouting America form and signed by both parents/guardians. Each accompanying parent/guardian will be responsible for the conduct of their Scout and any Scout they have assumed responsibility. The Cubmaster must approve this request.
Each Scout will be responsible for supplying their personal items and equipment needed for any outings or trips along with the items on the supply list issued by a Pack leader.
Tennis shoes/sneakers or boots and proper clothing are required for all hiking and camping activities (no open toed shoes).
NO PETS are allowed on ANY outing or trip, at product sales, or on chartered organization property (the church property) unless specifically approved by the Cubmaster or their representative.
NO HEATING ELEMENTS are allowed within sleeping areas per Scouting America policy.
All "smellables"/food items should always be stored outside of sleeping areas to deter wildlife from entering.
No siblings or friends are allowed on any outing or trip unless specifically approved by the Cubmaster or their representative. Parents are responsible for supervising their Scout while on any outing or trip.
Scouts are not allowed to possess or use a knife, BB Gun, or bow and arrow without proper Scouting America certification.
Fundraising is a huge part of our Pack funding. Participation in fundraising events provides funding for Pack trips during the Scouting year. There is one (1) Council coordinated sale (Camp Cards in the spring) and possibly a Pack sponsored fundraiser each year. Each Scout family is expected to participate each year. This teaches cooperation and teamwork to the Scouts as well as assists the Pack funding.
If a Scout does not have a meaningful participation in the fundraising events, the Pack reserves the right to refuse Scouts the right to participate in Pack events or assess an additional dues payment.
