In addition to providing a positive youth image in our community, the uniform creates a sense of belonging among Pack members. At minimum, each Scout will need a uniform and a handbook. Each year, he/she will need a new handbook, neckerchief, and cap (optional); but other uniform parts remain the same from Tigers through Webelos (4 years). When a Scout enters an Arrow of Light den, they will need to obtain a new khaki-and-olive uniform, which they will continue to wear into their later Scouting years.
There are 2 basic types of uniform requirements:
CLASS A – Required for Pack meetings. Includes blue or khaki Scout uniform shirt, den neckerchief, pack woggle, correct insignia and badges earned, and a Scout belt. Lions have an official Lion t-shirt uniform.
CLASS B – Also known as the “Activity Uniform”. This is required for camping activities, projects, and other outings. Though any Scout related t-shirt is ok, Pack 215 generally orders and sells new Pack t-shirts each year.
Each Scout is also expected to purchase a Pack T-Shirt (known as a Class B shirt) for activities when a Class A full uniform is not needed to be worn. Families can get Class B shirts directly from the Pack. Additional supplies and equipment may be needed for certain activities such as camping trips or field days. Den and Pack leaders should provide parents with information about any supplies that will be required before the scheduled outing.

In general, every Cub Scout should wear their uniform (Class A) to all Cub Scouting activities, including Den and Pack meetings, unit outings, and any activities done with members of the Den or Pack. When playing sports, going to camp, or participating in other physical activities, the Pack may opt to have the Cub Scouts wear an alternate uniform, such as an activity shirt (Class B). Pack leaders will provide advance notice of any occasion when the Scouts should wear anything other than the complete Class A uniform.
Here are some tips for wearing the uniform (Class A):
DO keep the uniform clean and in good repair. The official uniform is a sturdy, machine-washable garment that will last for years with proper care.
DO be sure to wear the complete uniform. A Cub Scout wearing a uniform with parts missing is not in uniform.
DO wear the uniform tucked in as the official Scouts BSA uniform policy requires.
DO NOT wear non-Scouts BSA badges, awards, or insignia on the Cub Scout uniform or make any alterations to the uniform or insignia.
Any time you are uncertain about uniform regulations, ask a unit leader for guidance.
When a Scout first joins, his/her uniform will display only those badges that identify their status:
the World Crest and Ring ($4.48, which shows the Scout to be a member of the worldwide Scouting movement)
the national flag (free)
the Council strip ($5.99)
Pack number (2, 1 & 5) ($1.99 each = $5.97)
Den number (Pack 215 does not require den numbers)
As each Scout progresses, the Cub Scout will earn badges, pins, medals, and other insignia that tell of their accomplishments in Scouting. These items should be added to the uniform only after they have been earned.
